  • Moisture enhancement: Along with using some of the finest natural based oils such as Grapeseed, Avocado, Coconut, Borage, Meadowseed Oil, and Biosaccharide Gum as excellent emollients and Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) is included to improve stratum corneum (skin) barrier function, as well as help to ameliorate dry skin.

  • Reduce Collagen and Elastin Breakdown: The matrix is damaged, malformed or worn out, (broken down) by the enzymes called matrix metalloproteinases (MMP) and then recycled. Excessive breakdown of the matrix in this manner can be seen in many older individuals and it is therefore desirable to slow down this process in the ongoing balance of breakdown versus new production. Included to reduce this rate of degradation are plant extracts that have been shown to strongly inhibit MMP enzymes. Ruscus aculeatus extract inhibits elastase (the MMP that breaks down elastin). Similarly included are Grapeseed and Pomegranate extracts that when properly introduced at the cellular level have been shown to significantly reduce the rate of collagen breakdown in the skin. Hyaluronidase inhibitors from the extract of licorice are also used in this connection to protect hyaluronic acid from degradation.

  • Reduce Inflammation: Research shows that inflammation increases the levels of MMP enzymes whereas anti-inflammatory agents have the opposite effect. In particular, two different classes of anti-inflammatory agents, so-called COX inhibitors and 5-LOX inhibitors, have been shown to reduce MMP activity. COX, a.k.a cyclooxygenase, and 5-LOX, a.k.a. 5-lypooxygenase, are the key enzymes involved in the development of inflammatory response. Included to inhibit inflammation of the skin cells are Licorice, Green Tea and Grape Seed extracts and Resveratol, a natural compound found in grapes known to have a variety of beneficial effects, including antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity (resveratol inhibits COX).

  • Increase Collagen, Elastin and Hyaluronic acid endogenous production: The skin matrix is responsible for the skin's mechanical properties, including firmness, strength, suppleness and elasticity. Nutraceuticals that engender metabolic pathways for skin matrix component production include a complex of Glucosamine, Bambusa vulgaris extract & Pisum Sativa extract, Centella Asiatica extract and Vitamin C in the crucially important Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate form that is critical to avoid degradation.

  • Skin Cell Remodeling and Regeneration: In addition to the other constructive metabolic functions listed is the imperative need to extend the life of cells in order to provide a younger looking skin as we age. Green Tea extract (principally EGCG fraction) and Borage Oil (gamma-Linolenic Acid fraction) are included as it has been shown that older cells found in the upper layers of the epidermis appear to start dividing again. They make more DNA and produce more energy. This influence prolongs the amount of time for which a given epidermis cell is viable effectively stretching the Hayflick limit. Prolonged skin cell vigor is especially valuable for mature complexions. Also included is Beta Glucan, as the macrophages in your skin are activated by topical beta glucan. The outer layer of epidermis contains about five percent macrophages and these generate epidermal growth factor which stimulates renewal of skin cells.

  • Cutaneous Photoprotection: Green Tea and Pomegranate extracts (potent beneficial polyphenols), and Beta Glucan help to protect from Sun damage.
